Leaderboards · Rating
Rating
Who plays best for the rank they play at. Every game is judged against the usual for that hero at that rank, so climbing does not flatter a rating. This is the Chudlock rating, worked out for a set of players we already follow, not for everyone.

Rules of this board
- Size
- Up to 200 places overall, out of a set of at most 2,000 players. This is not every player: see "Who is rated" below.
- Window
- The newest 100 standard games of each player, ranked and unranked. A player's history is read again every 3 days. Only players with a game in the last 30 days are listed.
- Who is counted
- Rated on a player's last 100 standard games, newest counting most, each judged against the usual for that hero at the rank it was played at. Players need 30 games (25 on a hero). The overall board needs 30 of them. Highest rating first; more games break a tie. The range is how far the rating could be out, 19 times in 20, so two close places are not really apart.
- Names
- Steam names and avatars from deadlock-api, looked up once a player reaches a board. Every row is one account, so no name is ever guessed.
- Not a skill ladder
- The rating is how well a player plays overall for the rank they play at. Someone at Archon and someone at Eternus are not compared as players, so a high rating is not a high rank. The rank beside each place is the rank of the player's newest game.
- Who is rated
- Players we already know about: the best places we matched on Valve's ladder, then the most active players on our hero boards. The set is drawn again each day.
- Source
- The community deadlock-api's public match histories, scored the way the Mastery page scores a game.

How the rating boards work
The Chudlock rating scores each game against the usual for that hero at the rank it was played at: souls, kills, deaths, assists, last hits and denies a minute. It then averages a player's last 100 standard games, with newer games counting more. A rating of 0 is a typical player for their hero and rank. The method page has the numbers behind it.
Overall and per hero
The overall board uses all of a player's last 100 standard games. A hero board uses only their games on that hero, and needs at least 25 of them. Hero ratings are pulled towards the player's own overall rating, because a player's skill carries between heroes.
How sure it is
Each place shows a likely range. It is wide for a player with few games and narrow for one with many. Two players whose ranges overlap cannot be told apart, so treat the order as a guide. The board does not predict who will win a game.
Who we rate
We do not rate every player, because a rating needs a whole match history from deadlock-api. We rate up to 2,000 players: the best places we matched on Valve's ladder, then the most active players on the hero leaderboards. A player's games are read again every three days, so the boards move slowly.
